Let me introduce myself.
It’s me, hi. I’m the Notary it’s me.
Meet your notary — Emily kitchens
No matter what era you’re in, paperwork usually shows up when something matters.
I know most people don’t come to a notary because they’re having a fun day. Usually, it’s paperwork tied to a big moment — buying a home, planning ahead, starting something new, or handling something important that just needs to be done correctly.
I started this business because I wanted the process to feel easier, clearer, and a lot less intimidating. I focus on showing up prepared, explaining what I can, staying neutral where required, and making sure everything is handled properly from start to finish.
I serve the Kansas City metro on both sides of the state line, and I treat every appointment with the same care — whether it’s a single signature or a full loan signing package. My goal is simple: you leave feeling confident that your documents were handled the right way.

Nomadic Notary Business Policies
These policies outline how my mobile notary business operates. They are designed to be clear, consistent, and respectful of both client needs and professional time.
No Legal Advice | No Attorney–Client Relationship
I am not an attorney and cannot provide legal advice or accept fees for legal advice.
Any information shared during an appointment is limited to explaining the notarial process itself and completing the notarial act. If you have questions about your document, your rights, or whether a document is appropriate for your situation, I encourage you to consult with a licensed attorney.
Using my notary services does not create an attorney–client relationship.
I do not review documents for legal sufficiency, draft legal documents, interpret legal language, or offer opinions about your rights or obligations. My role is to remain neutral and ensure that notarizations are completed properly and in accordance with Kansas and Missouri notarial law.
When I’m Available
My standard business hours are:
Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM.
Appointments requested after 7:00 PM on weekdays or any time on weekends are considered outside business hours and may be subject to additional fees. This helps ensure availability for clients who need flexible scheduling beyond the typical workday.
After-hours availability is offered to accommodate urgent needs, busy schedules, or time-sensitive documents. If you’re unsure whether your appointment falls within standard hours, I’m always happy to clarify before booking.
Same-Day Appointments
Same-day appointments are accepted based on availability and may be subject to a rush/priority fee.
Holiday Appointments
Appointments scheduled on recognized holidays are subject to a holiday fee due to limited availability.
The holiday fee applies regardless of appointment time and is charged in addition to travel and service fees. Holidays may include, but are not limited to: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Service Limitations (Kansas & Missouri Commissions)
As a commissioned notary public in Kansas and Missouri, I’m required to follow state notarial law. Because of that, I may need to decline or stop a notarization if:
• Acceptable, unexpired identification cannot be provided
• A signer appears unwilling, coerced, or unable to understand what they are signing
• A document is incomplete, contains blank spaces that should be filled, or raises legal concerns
• The requested act falls outside what a Kansas or Missouri notary is legally permitted to perform
These requirements exist to protect everyone involved and to ensure notarizations are completed properly and lawfully.
Service Area & Travel
I provide mobile notary services within 50 miles of my home base. (Overland Park, KS)
Travel Fees
Travel fees are charged for all mobile appointments and are quoted in advance. Travel fees are separate from notarization fees.

A no-show occurs when the signer is not present, unavailable, or unresponsive at the scheduled time and location. Appointments include a 15-minute grace period. After 15 minutes, the appointment may be considered a no-show. If something unexpected comes up, please reach out as soon as possible. Communication goes a long way and is always appreciated.

Signings in Nursing Homes & Care Facilities
I provide mobile notary services for:
- Nursing homes
- Assisted living facilities
- Hospitals and rehabilitation centers
Clients are responsible for ensuring that the signer is alert, willing, and legally capable of signing at the time of the appointment.
Final determination of the signer’s capacity and willingness to proceed rests solely with the notary at the time of the signing, in accordance with notarial law and ethical standards.
Hospital Facilities
Appointments conducted in hospitals are subject to an additional Hospital Facility Fee due to increased coordination, access procedures, and potential waiting time.
This fee applies regardless of whether the notarization is completed and is separate from notarization and travel fees.
The notary will determine at the time of the appointment whether the signer appears alert, willing, and legally capable of signing in accordance with notary law.
Jails & Correctional Facilities
Notary services are available for jails and correctional facilities when permitted by the facility.
- All facility rules and security procedures must be followed

Parking fees are location-dependent and may not be known in advance. Any applicable parking fees will be added to the final invoice and are due after the signing is completed.
Parking fees are charged at cost and are not marked up.
Appointments include up to 15 minutes of Waiting Time at no charge. Additional waiting time beyond this grace period may be billed in 15-minute increments at $15 per 15 minutes, at the notary’s discretion.
